Our Volunteers Make a difference
Milford-Miami Twp. Branch
The Milford Miami Township Branch Library is very lucky to have a group of dedicated and hard working volunteers. The Volunteers of the Library group organizes our quarterly book fairs. There are eighteen current members who prepare and run the fairs. They donate many hours of their time to keep this event a fundraising success. The Volunteers of the Library have used the money raised from the book fairs to buy the branch computers, furniture, books, programming funds, summer reading prizes, wiring for laptops, and folding tables among many other items. Over $17,000 in 2010-2011 has been donated for books and other items in our collection. They are currently raising funds to purchase an electronic sign for the parking lot. The volunteers meet every Thursday at 10:00 am to sort and organize all of the donated items used in the book fairs. They have their official business meeting on the first Thursday of each month.
The Milford Miami Township Branch also has a group of volunteers who help with shelving items and keeping items in order on the shelves. Last year, these volunteers donated 1,472 hours of their time to keep our shelves restocked with returned items in a timely manner.
The Milford Miami Township Branch staff is very appreciative of the volunteers taking the time to help us with these tasks. They have been a significant help in keeping the branch restocked and tidy. Susan Hutzel who has been a volunteer at the Milford Miami Township Branch since 2009 said, “After my retirement, I decided to volunteer. The Milford Library was the best choice for me since my family has been patronizing this library for over 40 years. Besides helping the library, the library has also benefited me by expanding my reading choices and meeting new friends.”
